Battalion S-6: Communications

c/CPT Kayla Ruelas

Hello cadets! I am cadet for Sergeant Kayla Ruelas and I will be your S6 or communications officer for the 2025 to 2026 school year. As S6 my duties keeping the JROTC website updated as keeping you cadets and your families informed with all events and updates happening. In my spare time I enjoy watching scary movies doing anything to do with art, listening to music and going out with friends and family. My favorite movie is scream and Coraline.

JROTC Career

I started JROTC my freshman year back in Okinawa Japan, as an airman in the AFJROTC. I then moved here to California and have stayed in the program ever since. I have always wanted to succeed more in this program and have done so in making main staff and being promoted to a first sergeant I am also currently a member/team captain of the females, Raiders team and a part of command for this team, I enjoy the hard-core and adventuristic dynamics of this team as well as attending competitions in intention to win due to my competitiveness.

Academics

I attended three elementary schools due to moving a lot and always got awards for being very social and also multiple comments on me being disruptive due to talking a lot, then began middle school in my hometown, El Paso, Texas, and then transferred to Okinawa Japan. I wasn’t the best student with grades, but always tried my best then I began high school still in Japan then transferred here to California where my grades picked up and my GPA from last year is now a 3.7 and currently my sophomore year is a 4.0 I’m currently in digital media and design and I’m trying to pursue a career in graphic design or military.
