Battalion S-5: Public Affairs

c/CPT Caroline Nguyen

Hi, everyone. It's me again, c/CPT Caroline Nguyen, and I'll be serving as your S5, or Public Affairs officer this year. This basically just means I get to spend my time doing a bunch of fun stuff for my job, like making bulletin board collages, taking event photos, and inhaling lots and lots of paint fumes. Hooray! Outside of that, I have hobbies VERY typical of an S5. Your socks will not be blown off to discover that I like all things artsy fartsy. I spend a lot of my time on arts and crafts, like painting, jewelry making, fashion, and other such things. I also write and have an affinity for plants.

JROTC Career

My trajectory in JROTC was pretty linear. Back in my freshman year, when I was a squad leader, I got reccommended to apply as an S1 assistant for my "excellent organizational skills" demonstrated in my planner (which, spoiler alert, I do not keep anymore!) Because I'm a toootal rebel, I signed up as an S5 assistant instead. After that, I became Battalion S5, then briefly CSM, and have now returned to my old ways as S5. I'm here to stay!

Academics

Here's the part where you see if we went to the same elementary school! If we did: I'm so sorry. I started out as a very anxious little kid at Wegeforth Elementary School before moving up to Taft Middle School, where, as an awkward tweenager, I met some of the best friends I'll ever have. Now I'm doing pretty well for myself studying under teachers I adore at Kearny's Biomedical Science and Technology school.
